Conference Meeting Venue

The Dance Hall is located in the Churchill Recreation Centre (345 Richmond Rd) in the West end of Ottawa in a neighborhood called Westboro. The main entrance of the Dance Hall can be accessed from the small parking lot on Churchill Avenue just North of Richmond Road or from a laneway on Richmond Road – though it is important to note that the Centre is not actually on the corner of Richmond and Churchill.

Traveling by Car
When driving to Ottawa rush hour traffic drops quickly after 6PM on Friday. We recommend exiting the 417 at the Carling / Kirkwood exit and taking Kirkwood North to Byron, Byron West to Churchill and Churchill North one block to the Dance Hall (just past the traffic lights). The centre only has a small parking lot, though there is ample free parking on the street. Please park on the residential streets North of the centre as parking on Richmond Road and Churchill is limited to only one hour before 7PM, seven days a week (street signs will confirm limit).

Traveling by Air, Train or Intercity Bus
For your information a cab fare from the airport to the dance hall is about $40, and from the Bus Station or Train Station should be between $20-$30. The fare charged depends on both elapsed time and distance traveled so if you get caught in a traffic jam due to construction or rush hour traffic the fare charged can be higher.

Ottawa currently has a dedicated bus route through town*. The Dance Hall is conveniently located a short walk from this transit route. The name for the stop closest to the recreation centre on this transit route is called Westboro. Buses run most frequently along the central section of the Transitway and many buses going West along the Transitway will take you to the Westboro Transit Station.

Cash fares are currently just under $3.50 per ride and although they may increase by March 2015 we expect they will likely be around $3.75. Unless you have a pass you must enter the at the front of the bus to pay the cash fare and collect a receipt. They check receipts periodically and there is a fine if you don’t have one.
OC Transpo

The airport is located at one end of this transit route, while the train station is pretty centrally located along the transit route so traveling to Ottawa by these modes of transport will involve transfering between fewer city buses. If your only option is to travel by bus you should inquire if there is a drop off point somewhere along Ottawa’s Transitway.

Walking directions from Westboro Transit Station to the Dance Hall (710 yards / 650 metres):

Airport Bus Service to the Westboro Transit Station. The 97 bus runs roughly every 15 minutes until 11:30PM and then every 30 minutes until 2:30AM.

Train Station Bus Service to the Westboro Transit Station. There are many buses that will take you from the train station to Westboro station though the most frequent would be the 95 bus.

City Bus Service from the Intercity Bus Station to the Westboro Transit Station

*The only caveat with directions involving the transitway is that it is being upgraded to light rail over the next few years so these directions may need to be revised in late February 2015.
